Butter Pats – It’s All in the Details

I’m starting to get everything ready for my upcoming Christmas dinner so I thought I would share a quick and simple tip for dressing up the butter for your holiday rolls.

Whenever I am hosting a special meal I like to make butter pats. They are really easy and they look so much prettier than a stick of butter laying on the table.

To make butter pats you just need two sticks of room temperature, sweet cream butter.

Place the butter in a bowl and use a hand mixer to whip them until they are creamy and similar in consistency as icing.

Fit a decorating bag with a #864 tip, or any other large decorating tip of your choice, and fill with the butter.

Tape some waxed paper on to the back of a baking sheet and pipe out mounds of butter. If you are using the #864 tip, hold it directly upright, slightly above the waxed paper, and squeeze the decorating bag until the mound is as large as you like. Stop squeezing and pull tip away.

Now place the butter pats into the refrigerator to firm up.

When ready to use just slide a spatula under each pat to release it from the waxed paper.

If you have them, you can place each pat on a small individual plate. You can also place a pat on each person’s bread plate or place all of them on a serving tray.

Enjoy the holidays!

Until next time, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.
